Narrative Day
Narrative day was fantastic! We all dressed up as our favourite book characters and had a mini parade. It was wonderful to see our favourite stories coming to life! As we have been working on writing our own narrative stories, we then got together with a buddy class and shared our own work. We have some budding authors in team two! Well done kids for getting actively involved in the day!

Sweet Success
It is always wonderful to witness our children being actively involved in community events. Our inquiry this term was called 'sweet success'. Children were given the provocative statement 'Children can't effectively package and sell sweets for a profit' and boy...did they prove it wrong! They looked at effectiveness of sweet packaging, exploring features like colour, logo, font, brand names, product names, heath warnings e.t.c. Then they set to work creating their own sweets and packaging them for the gala. Our stall made over $400. Way to go you clever kids!
Gala
Our gala was awesome! Thank you to all of the fabulous staff, parents, and kids who made this day a huge success. We raised well over $10,000.
Ukulele Kids
We have had three ukulele groups running this year. Mrs McIntosh takes the year 3/4 group once a week. Here are a few of our awesome ukulele kids from all levels of the school.

Autumn Fun
The team walked down to Warren Park to explore on Friday afternoon. We looked at the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees and talked about why the leaves change colour and fall to the ground. We were fascinated by the clusters of monarch butterflies in the trees and the abundance of toadstools growing in the leaf litter. The boys and girls had a competition to see who could make the tallest leaf pile...which the boys narrowly won! The girls had to
barricade their pile to protect it from George the master 'leaf thief'.

Volcanoes
We have been learning about volcanoes. We were extremely fortunate to have Issac from White Island tours come and talk to the team about the NZ's most active volcano...which is right on our doorstep! We learned so much about this incredible place and really enjoyed the informative talk and hands on experiences. Thanks White Island Tours!
Room Two and Three completed projects on Volcanoes as part of their homework. We have some super talented kids (and parents) who blew us away with their speeches, posters, baking, board games, and 3d models on a volcano theme. Well done!
