Cross Country

Our middle school were well represented at todays interschool cross country held at Ohope School. The course was steep and slippery, but the children had a ball and were proud of their efforts! Way to go to all of those children who participated. Several of our students placed in the top ten, and will now represent us in the Opotiki competition.

Matariki

We have all been learning about Matariki. Today we had some performers come and presented a special show on this celebration and it's significance.

Rippa Rugby

Three Apanui school teams competed in the Eastern Bay of Plenty Rippa World Cup this week. They all performed really well and our middle school qualified for the BOP finals next week in Paengaroa.
Well done kids!

Nutrition Day

On Friday we celebrated the end of our nutrition unit by having a nutrition day and community lunch. Children had to create products to share, designing a menu that aligned with our healthy food pyramid. They made nutritious club sandwiches,  ham hock and vegetable soup, air popped popcorn, roast pumpkin soup, and fruit salad. They enjoyed sharing their learning with over 40 parents who came to join us. Well done team two!

Keeping Ourselves Safe

We are currently learning about Keeping Ourselves Safe. Keeping Ourselves Safe [KOS] is a comprehensive child protection programme in which students learn and apply a range of safety skills that they can use when interacting with others. The whole school work through units in this police education programme. For more information follow this link:

The Great Tug o War

Our house tug o war was a huge success on Monday. Pupils dressed in their house colours and cheered on their teams in our school wide competition. The teachers even won against the parents ( which is just as well because we can never beat them in swimming!) What a fun way to spend an afternoon!
