Poem Presentations

We  have been learning to recite poems in front of an audience as part of our oral language programme. Today some of our more confident speakers presented their poems during our team assembly. Well done to all of our speakers...you were fabulous!

Winter Sports

We had a fabulous day last Friday at winter sports. We competed in fun games of hockey, soccer, dodge ball, and ripper rugby against other schools. Thanks Mr T for organising this great event!

Daffodil Day

We always have a fabulous parade for Daffodil Day to raise funds for the Cancer Society. It was wonderful to see so many children getting into the spirit of the day, dressing up and donating to this worthwhile cause.

Taneatua Sevens

The middle school entered a year three and four team in the Taneatua Sevens Rugby competition last week. Our children competed extremely well...winning their pool rounds and coming a close second in the final! Way to go Apanui! Our senior netball and rugby teams also participated really well, the rugby A team winning the competition.

Literacy

It was great to wander around the rooms this week and see the children engaged in such purposeful writing tasks. Classrooms are language rich environments and there is some super learning taking place.

Book Fair

We made around $800 for the school library from our recent book fair. Thank you to all of the families who supported this great event. The children loved it!

Mini Olympics

We had a fabulous mini Olympics day at Apanui School. Children worked together in their whanau groups... competing for the gold! It is always wonderful to see how well the pupils mix on these days, with the senior students really stepping into their roles as leaders and assisting the younger team members. Thank you Mrs McIntosh for organising this fun event.
