Clinton Toopi
We were lucky this week to have Clinton Toopi from the Gold Coast Titans (NRL) visit us. He gave a motivational speech on the importance of striving to reach your goals. He related these back to our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Resourcefulness. Some lucky students then had the opportunity to participate in some basic league drills with him. Thanks Clinton!
Bike Launch
On Friday we had the official opening of our bike track and bike shed. Apanui is the first school in the Bay of Plenty to have this great facility! We not only have a bike track, but have 60 bikes and helmets to use for class and community cycling activities. The children and forty community members who were involved in it's development, came and watched the track being used. One child from every class took part in this event...getting to try out the track and new bikes themselves.
A huge thank you to Mr Hamer who was a key person in the planning, development, and fundraising for this project... You Rock! Classes will spend time with Mr Hamer over the next few weeks, learning how to make the best use of our track and care for the equipment.
